CAMPSITES
The mix of organized beaches and resorts, lush forests with idyllic pine groves and the variety of cultural attraction
sites that pop up on every step of the way, make Chalkidiki peninsula one of the most popular camping destinations
in Greece. There is a variety of organized campsites in the area to chose from, whether you love to sleep next to the
crystal clear blue waters or under the trees, you pitch a tent or drive a motorhome. Chalkidiki is, with no doubt, an
oasis for camping lovers.
FREE/WILD CAMPING
"Free camping" is illegal. If there is an official prohibition sign for "wild camping in a tent" and you get caught wild
camping, this can be punished with a fine up to 3,000 euros.
If you are traveling with a motor-home, the situation is a little different. With a motorhome you can park, but not
camp. Therefore chairs, tables, sunshades or other camp equipment should not to be set up. However, the locals
are very tolerant as long as you don't stay longer than 1-2 days at one place and don't make any noise, don't leave
garbage behind and don't light a fire.
ARRIVAL
Traveling from Italy to Greece with one of the ferry lines - Anek-Lines, Minoan-Lines or Superfast - is the easiest and
fastest route. The trip from Venice to Igoumenitsa or Patras is by far the nicest.
The National Road Network in Greece is well developed.
